Together with spinel, topaz is one of few gemstones that occurs in almost every colour.

What you need to know:

Topaz is a variety of the aluminium fluoride minerals. The colour is due to the presence of these molecules and will depend on which molecule is more present in each stone. Topaz also scores pretty well on Mohs hardness scale, resulting in a scratch resistant and though stone.
