Known for its beautiful blue colour, tanzanite was one of the last discovered gemstones. In addition, tanzanite can be found in only one place on earth, namely: Tanzania.

What you need to know:

Tanzanite is a variety of the mineral zoisite. The intensity of the colour is due to the presence of calcium and aluminium and will depend on which molecule is more present in each stone. With a hardness of 6.0-6.50 on Mohs scale, tanzanite’s are less resistant to scratches than other gemstones.
